Boiler Parts

I’ve been trying like mad to find information on a band who played around Luton in 1993 called “Boiler Parts”…don’t suppose anyone has heard of them or *gasp* was even in the band? Predictably any search I try ends up resulting in pages for plumbers about boiler parts, which is endlessly fascinating but it’s a different kind of boiler servicing I’m after if you know what I mean, eh?! You do? I don’t, I tell you.

Anyway, Boiler Parts were, as you may have guessed from the name, a death metal combo with an industrial feel. Somewhere between ministry and pantera, you might say if you were one of those pigeonholing types. They were really good and I’m amazed they never made it big or, if my searches are anything to go by, are even still on the scene today. They were amazing live, really got the crowd going, and even had their own cheering section, “the boiler babes”. Their stable of roadies-come-understudies for the perpetually drunk band members came to be called the Boiler Spares and they were pretty much feted by a certain age and class of the town, and not just in the rock/metal community. They had a bit of crossover appeal, they were obviously very talented but they spoke (and were nice) to everyone.

Anyway, I’ll wipe a misty tear from under this rose tinted lens and ask if anyone, anywhere, has a recording of Boiler Parts’ song “spin cycle”. It was playing in The Barley Mow the night I met my wife and I really want it for our wedding dance!
