Will Mobile Broadband Replace Fixed Line Broadband?
I’ve been wondering about mobile broadband lately, everything seems to be mobile broadband this mobile broadband that. What’s the big deal about? The debate appears to be whether mobile broadband will end up replacing fixed line broadband. To be honest I see no reason why it won’t, although there remains the conviction that fixed line broadband still offers a better quality signal. Maybe this is why mobile broadband operators have jumped in on the band wagon too and are also now competing with the major ISPs for fixed line broadband customers. The continuing trend in the mobile broadband UK market for operators providing increased broadband speeds at the same time as price reductions for both mobile broadband and fixed line broadband is great, but not something that can continue for much longer. We all want the latest and newest technology; this costs money and has to be leveled against what customers are willing to pay. We don’t yet have the capability, or is it just the funding to enjoy the level of broadband speeds and signal quality that our friends in the Far East do, but there certainly does appear to be glints on the horizon of this availability in the UK sometime soon. However, until this happens I continue to ponder the issue of quality between mobile broadband and fixed line broadband and whether one will replace the other.
