Poker Player Profile: Mike Sexton
online poker player Mike Sexton is easily best known as the host of the World Poker Tour along with Vince Van Patten. In the many seasons of the WPT, he has made quite a name for himself being one of the more balanced and intelligent casino commentators in the game, a fact which is based at least in part on Sexton’s less public but high level of poker skill.
In addition to his WPT status, Sexton has long been a winning poker player, and a feared online poker tournament presence. His greatest accomplishment, perhaps, came in 2006 when he won the World Series of Poker Tournament of Champions, besting a field of many of poker’s biggest stars. Such a win is a testament to the fact that he’s not just a poker voice, but a poker mind, and one to be paid attention to.
Even beyond that, Sexton is a great presence for the game of poker as a whole. He has spoke in support of the legalization of poker and establishment of poker as a game of skill quite actively, including recently taking the position as the official spokesman for National League of Poker.
One thing is for sure: we could do better to have more people in the mind of Mike Sexton in the world of poker.
